Ian Jones

Ian is a Palmer-based outdoor educator, guide, and wilderness medicine instructor. He primarily works as a field instructor for NOLS, leading mountaineering and backcountry skiing expeditions throughout Alaska and Wyoming. He also serves as an Evacuation Coordinator for NOLS Alaska and teaches wilderness medicine courses as a Wilderness EMT. Ian regularly contributes field observations to the Hatcher Pass Avalanche Center. He brings a passion for snow science, thoughtful decision-making, and experiential education to his avalanche courses. When he's not teaching, Ian can usually be found exploring Alaska's mountains on his splitboard.
