Full tuition is due no later than 30 days prior to the course start date. If approved, your $250 deposit will be applied to your course tuition.
Your enrollment will not be held or complete until we have received all enrollment paperwork and tuition is paid.
You are only fully enrolled once you receive anemail confirming your registration is Approved.
Student Requirements for Enrollment (1-4 all required):
1. Course applicants have completed both the following A3-recognized courses prior to enrollment:
A. Recreational Level 1 Avalanche Training, a minimum of one winter season is required between the completion of the Rec Level 1 and enrolling in the Pro 1.
B. Avalanche Rescue
Applicants who believe they have the educational equivalent of the above-listed prerequisites can apply to the Pro Course Provider of their choice for a Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) review. Course enrollment in these situations is at the discretion of the Pro Course Provider.
2. One winter season (20 days or more) of relevant experience (demonstrated through one of the following).
C. Prior avalanche work experience; OR
D. A supervised unpaid work internship in the guiding/avalanche industry supported by a letter of reference; OR
E. A3 Professional Membership
3. Documentation of trip planning and recorded field observations including weather, snowpack and stability test results that contributed to avalanche hazard assessment and personal avalanche risk management.
4) Students must pay a student administrative fee to the American Avalanche Association and submit a receipt with their application package. This fee is non-refundable so please check to make sure there is space in the course you are interested in before paying this fee. More information here: A3 Student Fee
