Rachel Sullivan

Rachel is a New Jersey native who moved to Alaska in 2021 to pursue her love of all things icy and Arctic. Since earning her degree in Environmental Science from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, she has worked as a backcountry park ranger for Mount Rainier National Park, Gates of the Arctic National Park, and Denali National Park. She developed a love for the Chugach and Kenai Mountains during her time ski patrolling for Alyeska Resort and glacier guiding on Exit Glacier in Seward. After a summer stint in Greenland working as a logistics manager for a guiding operation, she is back in the Chugach full-time working for the Alaska Avalanche School as a program manager and course instructor. In her free time, Rachel loves to explore Alaska’s vast wilderness through skiing, ice climbing, and backpacking, or baking and playing Catan when it’s raining down low. She holds a WFR and Level 1 Avalanche certification and is excited to be taking the Pro 1 course in January.
