Caleigh Warner

Not unlike many folks entering the recreational backcountry community, Caleigh didn’t grow up skiing. She became curious about skiing in high school as friends shuttled from the city to the slopes of Mt. Hood for discounted Tuesday-night skiing. The allure of the mountains ultimately led her to Squamish, BC where she completed a Bachelor's in Earth Science, with a focus in Glacio-climatology.

While studying in British Columbia Caleigh discovered backcountry skiing and completed her recreational level avalanche training. After college, she moved to SE Alaska to work for an Arctic Science program in the summer and investigate unstable snowpacks while following local avalanche forecasters come winter. Her eagerness to seek new ways to investigate the snow and willingness to take sick days from work made Caleigh a great field partner.

Motivated to pursue a career in the Avalanche industry by her mentors in Juneau, Caleigh moved up to South Central and began teaching at AAS in 2022. In addition to teaching with AAS she very much enjoys exploring with her skis in the winter and still spends her summers supporting Arctic research on fields of ice in Juneau and Greenland. She is WEMT and PRO 1 certified.
