Michael Kerst

Michael grew up in Palmer, AK. He spent as much time as he could up in Hatcher Pass, learning how to ski and dig into the snow, looking at layers. This was all thanks to an early-onset fascination with snow science. He is now pursuing a snow science degree at Alaska Pacific University. Michael is grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from many great minds and mentors. Michael spends his summers in Haines, AK, where he works as a ski, raft, sea kayaking, and mountaineering guide. He enjoys teaching people about the mountains, the ocean, and rivers. After receiving his Avalanche Pro 1, Michale now teaches for the HPAC youth education program, and is bringing his love of learning and teaching in the wintery mountains to AAS.
