Karl Boehmer

Karl was born in Anchorage and spent his early years being pulled on a sled in the foothills of the Chugach mountains. However, he mostly grew up in Wisconsin where the hills stay hills and don’t lead to mountains. He moved back to Alaska in 2016 and quickly took a Rec Level 1 course with the Alaska Avalanche School. Since then he has been skiing and slogging around Southcentral.

In Alaska he has worked with organizations such as Alyeska Ski Resort, the Alaska Rock Gym, and NOLS. He currently works for the Anchorage School District supporting students in a more formalized educational setting.

Karl has a WFR, Rec Level 2, and looks forward to pursuing a Pro Level 1 this season. He recently graduated from Alaska Pacific University with a master’s degree in Outdoor and Environmental Education and is excited to be working alongside the Alaska Avalanche School.
