Brock developed a love for all things outdoors from growing up in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, to include skiing, which has been his longest running favorite sport. The mystery seed of Alaska was planted in him as a young boy. As an adult he took the opportunity he’d been looking for and moved to Anchorage in 2011 to be a member of a search and rescue team locally known as “the PJs.” Working in professional rescue he has learned much about the hazards of moving in the mountains and continues to learn more about managing risk and enjoys sharing this knowledge with others. He carries these certifications: Avalanche Professional Level 1, PSIA Level 1 Ski Instructor, Rigging for Rescue Technician in snow/rock/ice, and Wilderness EMT.
