Aleph Johnston-Bloom

Aleph is an avalanche forecasting consultant living in Girdwood, Alaska. For the past six seasons she has been the Lead forecaster for the Chugach National Forest Avalanche Center. She is the former director of both the Alaska Avalanche School and the Silverton Avalanche School. She is an American Avalanche Association Certified Instructor, Professional Member and the former Ethics Chair and Secretary of the A3 Governing Board.  Aleph is an American Avalanche Institute Level 3 graduate and has a degree from Prescott College in Outdoor Experiential Education and Environmental Studies. Over the past 22 years she has garnered experience as a highway avalanche forecaster, a backcountry avalanche forecaster, a professional ski patroller and a ski guide.  She has worked, skied and snowmachined in many of the western states, experiencing different snow climates, and spent a summer ski patrolling in New Zealand. Through all the jobs and travels she has been an  educator, sharing her keen interest in avalanches.
