6 full days / $2,995

Alaska Avalanche School is partnering with Alaska Surf Guides to offer a 6-day Level 2+ course. This boat based adventure will travel from Seward into Resurrection Bay, Aialik Bay, NW Lagoon and possibly Montague Island in Prince William Sound. All students and staff will live aboard one of two ships on this all-inclusive trip where meals and water based transportation is included. You and your instructors will cover an A3 certified Level 2 curriculum and additionally address topics such as expedition planning, traveling in unforecasted avalanche terrain, and have extensive practical work in tour planning. Each evening students will work with your instructors and boat captains on the next day’s trip plan using mapping skills.

Tuition Does Not Include

  • Rescue Insurance
  • Round trip transportation to the harbor for course start/end
  • Staying Alive in Avalanche Terrain by Tremper
  • Personal gear and clothing

Pre-Requisites

  • Participation in a prior Level 1 course or equivalent.
  • At least a year of experience since your Level 1 course.
  • Ski or splitboard only. Sorry, AAS experience has shown snowshoers have difficulty keeping up.
  • At least intermediate backcountry travel skills.
  • Be prepared to remain outdoors in high wind, heavy snowfall and cold temperatures.
  • 18 years old minimum

  • The purpose of this workshop is to enhance your skills at preparing and traveling and leading in the snowy mountains.
